What is Kundalini Yoga & Kundalini Energy?

Kundalini Yoga was first introduced to the western world in the late 1970s by Yogi Bhajan, dubbed the yoga of self awareness. It derives from the Sanskrit word kundal, which translates to “coiled energy.” We all have energy gathered at the base of our spine. The yogic technology of Kundalini combines the physical, mental and meditative practices using sound, breath and movement to awaken and utilise that power by bringing that energy up our spine through the seven chakras and out the crown of our head. The ultimate goal of Kundalini is to increase your self-awareness and help you to return to your original True Self, that is sleeping within you (kundalini).

How does Kundalini Yoga differ to other Yogas?

Kundalini Yoga works incredibly fast when it comes to accomplishing transformation and enlightenment, giving you the Leverage to transform your life. It is passed down to you via the golden chain, giving you Lineage and allowing you to tap into the infinite wisdom and vibratory frequency of the teachers that came before all of us. By practising in a consistent and dedicated way you create a Legacy.

What are the Mantras to tune in?

The traditional Kundalini practice opens and begins with ‘tuning in’ with two mantras. The first is the Adi Mantra then followed by the Mangala Charn Mantra:

Adi Mantra: Ong Namo, Guru Dev Namo

I bow to the wisdom through the ages.
I bow to the true wisdom.
I bow to the great unseen wisdom.

Mangala Charn Mantra: Ad Guray Nameh, Jugad Guray Nameh, Sat Guray Nameh, Siri Guru Devay Nameh

This mantra clears the cloud of doubt and opens us to guidance and protection through surrounding ourselves with universal light.

“Even Carl Jung, the great Swiss psychiatrist who founded analytical psychology, affirmed that the practices of Kundalini Yoga were far superior to anything he or Sigmund Freud were working on. He just didn’t think that the world was ready for it. That was almost a hundred years ago. We are not only ready now, but we need it.”
